Ingredients

Slider Components
  • 1 package Hawaiian sweet rolls 12-count pack
  • 1 lb (450g) Deli ham Thinly sliced, honey or smoked
  • 8-10 slices Swiss cheese Thick slices for better melting
  • 1/2 cup (115g) Unsalted butter Melted
  • 1 tbsp (10g) Dried minced onion
  • 1 tbsp (9g) Poppy seeds Black poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp (15g) Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp (5ml) Worcestershire sauce

Equipment

  • 1 9x13 inch baking dish Greased lightly
  • 1 Serrated Knife For clean cuts through the rolls
  • 1 Pastry Brush For applying the butter glaze
  • 1 White ceramic platter For serving

Method

Assembly
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Use a serrated knife to slice the entire block of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the individual rolls connected.
  2. Place the bottom half of the rolls in a baking dish. Layer the deli ham in folds to create volume, then top with slices of Swiss cheese, letting them overlap slightly.
Glazing and Baking
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, dried onion, poppy seeds, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce.
  2. Place the top half of the rolls onto the cheese. Brush the butter mixture evenly over the tops, letting it drip into the spaces between the rolls.
  3. Cover with foil and bake for 10-12 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 8-10 minutes until the tops are golden-brown and the cheese is bubbly and oozing.

Notes

For extra crispy bottoms, toast the bottom half of the rolls for 3 minutes before adding toppings.
Substitute Swiss with Provolone or Havarti if you prefer a different flavor profile.
