  • 3 cups broccoli florets fresh
Sauce
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 1/4 cup honey or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger minced
  • 1 tbsp garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 1 tbsp water
Garnish
  • 1 tbsp white sesame seeds toasted
  • 2 green scallions thinly sliced

Equipment

  • 1 Large Skillet For searing chicken
  • 1 Steamer Basket For the broccoli
  • 1 Rice Cooker Optional

Method

Prepare the Base and Veggies
  1. Rinse the white rice until water runs clear. Cook 2 cups (370g) rice with 4 cups (950ml) water until fluffy.
  2. Steam broccoli florets for 4-5 minutes until vibrant green and tender-crisp.
Cook the Chicken
  1. Pat chicken breast chunks dry. Heat oil in a large skillet and sear chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden-brown char marks appear.
Glaze and Assemble
  1. Add soy sauce, honey, ginger, and garlic to the skillet. Stir in cornstarch slurry and simmer until the glaze is thick and glossy.
  2. Divide rice into bowls. Top with glazed chicken and steamed broccoli. Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions.

Notes

For an extra kick, add a teaspoon of sriracha to the glaze.
Ensure the pan is very hot before adding chicken to get those professional char marks.
