Ingredients

Orange Gelatin Layer
  • 6 oz Orange Gelatin Mix e.g., Jell-O brand
  • 2 packets Unflavored Gelatin Approx 14g total
  • 2 cups Boiling Water 480ml
  • 1 cup Vodka 240ml, chilled; vanilla vodka also works great
Opaque Cream Filling
  • 14 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk 396g, one full can
  • 1 tsp Unflavored Gelatin For stability
  • 1/2 cup Water Split into cold and boiling for blooming
Garnish
  • 1 bunch Fresh Mint Sprigs For garnish
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest Fine curls

Equipment

  • 1 Rimmed Baking Sheet (13x18 inch) Standard half-sheet pan
  • 1 Parchment Paper To prevent sticking and assist rolling
  • 1 Offset spatula For even spreading of the cream layer

Method

Prepare the Orange Base
  1. Whisk orange gelatin and unflavored gelatin with boiling water for 2 minutes until fully dissolved.
  2. Stir in chilled vodka. Pour onto a parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet. Chill for 45 minutes until set but tacky.
Add the Cream Layer
  1. Bloom unflavored gelatin in cold water, dissolve with boiling water, and stir into sweetened condensed milk.
  2. Gently pour the cream over the orange layer. Spread thinly with an offset spatula. Chill for 4+ hours.
Roll and Slice
  1. Starting from the long side, tightly roll the jello sheet into a log using the parchment paper to guide you.
  2. Slice into 1-inch cylinders with a warm knife. Top each with a mint sprig and orange zest.

Notes

Use a warm knife for clean slices.
Do not freeze, as the texture will become grainy.
